Once your Slack app is installed and your AWS account is connected, here’s the fastest path to useful output.

Minute 1 — Check your cost summary

Beacon will return your month-to-date spend, how it compares to last month, and the top 3 services by cost.

Minute 2 — Run the Security Economics Report

This is usually the highest-impact starting point. Beacon will pull your GuardDuty and Security Hub findings, translate each one into a monthly dollar cost, and rank them by financial exposure. Most teams find at least one finding they didn’t know was costing them money.

Minute 3 — Run the AI Economics Report

If your team is using any AI APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, AWS Bedrock):
Beacon will break down token spend by project and model, score efficiency, and flag any waste patterns.

Minute 5 — Check your FinOps Health Score

Your FinOps Health Score is a single number (0–100) that reflects how well your cloud spend is managed across cost optimization, AI efficiency, and security investment. Beacon will explain what’s driving the score and what would move it.

Minute 7 — Dig into a finding

If the Security Economics Report flagged something, investigate it:
or
Beacon will explain the finding, the risk, the monthly cost of leaving it unresolved, and the estimated effort to fix it.

Minute 10 — Set up a weekly report

Beacon will confirm the schedule and start posting automatically.
