# Notifications & Alerts

> Configure Beacon to proactively alert you when something needs attention.

## Types of alerts

**Cost alerts**

```
@Beacon alert me when monthly spend exceeds $15,000
@Beacon notify me when EC2 spend spikes more than 30% in a day
@Beacon alert me if a new service appears in my bill
```

**Security alerts**

```
@Beacon alert me when a new critical security finding is detected
@Beacon notify me if my security score drops below 60
```

**AI alerts**

```
@Beacon alert me when AI spend exceeds $5,000 this month
@Beacon notify me if any AI project efficiency score drops below 50
```

## Managing alerts

```
@Beacon what alerts are configured?
@Beacon remove the EC2 spend alert
@Beacon change the cost alert threshold to $20,000
```

## Choosing where alerts go

By default, alerts go to the channel where you configured them. To send to a different channel:

```
@Beacon send cost alerts to #finops-alerts
```
