# Security Investment & Exposure

> Understand the financial relationship between what you're spending on security and what you're exposed to.

## The key question

How much are you spending on security, and how does that compare to your actual risk exposure?

OpsBeacon quantifies both sides:

* **Security investment** — what you're spending on AWS security services (GuardDuty, Security Hub, WAF, Shield, etc.)
* **Security exposure** — the monthly dollar cost of your open security gaps

## How to use it

@Beacon what am I spending on AWS security services?
@Beacon what's my total security exposure this month?
@Beacon compare my security spend to my security exposure
```

## What this tells you

If your exposure significantly exceeds your investment, you're under-protected relative to what you're spending. If your investment significantly exceeds your exposure, you may be over-spending on security tooling relative to your actual risk profile.
