# Slack Integration

> How OpsBeacon integrates with Slack and what permissions it uses.

## Slack permissions

OpsBeacon requests the minimum permissions needed to function:

| Permission | Purpose |
| - | - |
| `chat:write` | Post reports and responses to channels |
| `app_mentions:read` | Respond to `@Beacon` mentions |
| `channels:read` | List channels for report configuration |
| `users:read` | Identify team members for assignment |
| `im:write` | Send direct messages for alerts (optional) |

OpsBeacon does not read message history, access private channels it hasn't been invited to, or store Slack message content.

## Channel management

Beacon can post to any channel it's been invited to. To invite Beacon:

```
/invite @Beacon
```

## Removing OpsBeacon from Slack

Go to **Slack Settings → Manage Apps → OpsBeacon → Remove App**. This immediately revokes all Slack permissions.
