# Understanding Score Dimensions

> A detailed breakdown of what drives each component of the FinOps Health Score.

## Cost Optimization (40%)

This dimension scores how well your spend is aligned with actual usage. Factors include:

* **RI/Savings Plan coverage** — what percentage of eligible spend is covered by commitments
* **Idle resource rate** — percentage of provisioned resources with near-zero utilization
* **Waste ratio** — spend on resources flagged by Trusted Advisor as underutilized
* **Tagging coverage** — percentage of resources with cost allocation tags

## AI Economics (30%)

This dimension scores the efficiency of your AI workloads. Factors include:

* **Token efficiency** — useful output per token spent, benchmarked against task type
* **Cache utilization** — whether prompt caching is enabled for repeat workloads
* **Model-task alignment** — whether workloads are using the right model tier for the task
* **Error rate** — percentage of API calls that fail and incur cost without producing output

## Security Investment (30%)

This dimension scores how well your security spending matches your risk profile. Factors include:

* **Exposure vs investment ratio** — monthly dollar exposure from open findings vs security service spend
* **Time-to-remediation** — how long high-severity findings stay open
* **Finding resolution rate** — percentage of flagged findings resolved within 30 days
* **Security service coverage** — whether GuardDuty and Security Hub are enabled
