# Reservations & Commitment Management

> Track your Reserved Instance and Savings Plan utilization and coverage.

## What it shows

Beacon reports on how well your existing AWS commitments (Reserved Instances and Savings Plans) are being used, and identifies on-demand usage that could be converted to commitments for savings.

## How to use it

@Beacon how much of my spend is covered by Savings Plans?
@Beacon where am I paying on-demand rates that I could commit to?
```

## Key metrics

* **RI utilization** — what percentage of your purchased RIs are actually being used
* **RI coverage** — what percentage of your eligible usage is covered by RIs
* **Savings Plan utilization** — how much of your Savings Plan commitment is being consumed
* **On-demand exposure** — usage running at on-demand rates where commitments would save money
